Wealth

Wealth comes in many forms and sometimes I need a kick in the pants to remember how fortunate I am.

Though healthy for the most part, The Tramp and I both suffer from migraines.  This week I had an appointment with my neurologist.  I like that he listens to me and offers alternatives since I can't tolerate the common medications very well.  Apparently, the latest research has proven a cocktail of supplements, when taken together, can offer some relief.  So I came home with these.  No more prescription drugs but let me tell you, these can cost a bundle!  Yikes!  But with some careful shopping we should be wealthy enough to buy what we need.  In three months I'll know if they work.  Fingers crossed.

There are days when it really hits home how wealthy we are.  The Tramp and I are fortunate in almost every way.....aches and pains notwithstanding.  :-)   Today we put our heads together over the Bernina Record and poked, prodded and oiled until we finally got the decorative stitches working.  Yay!  There they are, side by side.  That's wealth in my book!

Having leisure time to watch the birds is a kind of wealth too.  To me anyway.  I'm not sure The Tramp feels as strongly.  lol  The male red-bellied woodpecker has become a regular visitor.  I see the female in the trees but she seems to be too shy to enjoy the feast.

Yes.  I see you too Mr. Cardinal.   :-)

There are a wealth of things to see and do in our area and we haven't taken much time to explore.  This is about to change.  Today we walked the trails in the Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve.

It was a perfect day for walking the trails.

The trails are well marked and well maintained.  We even came across someone sweeping wood chips off the wooden edges of the paths!

It's hilly terrain so there were lots of stairs to various outlooks.

Swift Creek is waaaaay down there.

And there.

Eventually we ended up down at creek level.  Yep.  You guessed it.  To get back to the trailhead we had to go all the way back up again!

Monday is a holiday.  A great opportunity for another walk.....on pavement this time, to spare The Tramp's ankle and knee.  I'm looking forward to it!

Migraines are no fun! I hope the combo of vitamins and supplements works its magic.

Earlier this year I was diagnosed with severe Vitamin D deficiency and was quite ill will it. I started taking a high dosed supplement in June and 6 months later I'm back to my old self. I suffered for 6 years so I'm so pleased it was an easy fix.

What a great walk! You are right....wealth isn't all about money and material possessions...which are useless if you don't have health.....hope the non prescription cocktails work for you.....great work on getting the decorative stitches working on your machine ! Enjoy your walks...and thanks for sharing! It's been too hot to walk here...hoping for some cooler weather soon!

That's a nice place to go to, until it's time to go back up all those stairs!!
I've been going to Umstead Park lately. Hills but no stairs.

My little brothers used to play at the Bluffs back when it was nothing but woods. They would swing from a rope and jump in the water. Probably would be frowned upon now!

I suffered migraines for many years. We eventually found the source of the problem was chocolate! haven't eaten it since and no more migraines.

The are doing some migraine relief with botox. My friend (age 57) is going in the spring to get botox in her forehead, around her eyes and in her neck. She has suffered from migraines all her life and has tried many kinds of pills, prescription and non. We live in Canada and she will get this treatment paid for by our federal health plan. It must be a valid treatment or there is no way the government would pay for it. Anyway it is something to look in to. Good luck.
